3x Grammy Award Winner Oscar Hernández has long been considered one of the most gifted and prominent pianist/ arrangers/producers on the contemporary Latin, Latin-jazz and salsa music scene.
Oscar Hernandez is the leader of the world renowned “Spanish Harlem Orchestra”, and with the release of Oscar Hernández & Alma Libre, “The Art Of Latin jazz” on the Origin Label, Oscar is making a more personal statement with his music and adding to his legacy on the Latin jazz side as a Pianist,Composer,Arranger.. The CD is 10 of his new original compositions, as performed by Oscar on piano and his brilliant Quintet, consisting of justo Almario, sax & flute, Jimmy Branly, drums, Jorge “Sawa” Perez, bass, & Christian Moraga, percussion. All veterans of the Latin jazz scene and great musicians in their own right.
In addition, Oscar ,presents the extraordinary talent of Gilbert Castellanos on trumpet as a special invited guest.
The music on “The Art Of Latin jazz” will take you on a journey of musical palletes, i.e. hot, cool, smooth, lyrical, passionate, etc.As far as Latin Jazz music, it does not get any better. Oscar Hernández has a unique and fresh take on the genre which stems from his vast experience and knowledge of the music scene he’s been an integral part of for so many years.
